I have a stack of floppies that do not have their capacity printed on them. I stuck one in Win98 and it offered to let me format it in either 1.44MB or 720KB. I first chose 1.44MB and it crapped out, telling me the capacity was not valid. Okay, so it must be 720KB. Yes, formatting in 720KB works.
Is there a faster way to determine an unlabeled floppy's capacity other than trial and error?
