So, I've been having this issue every time I download Elder Scrolls Arena on a different computer. At first I thought it was computer itself, then I thought it was because I'd switched to a different OS at one point (Ubuntu), which is less supportive/compatible with games, even older ones.

But I'm on a newer computer now with better specs (plays Sims 4 and Skyrim fine on higher settings, and plays Diablo 2, Sims 2, and Rollercoaster Tycoon fine for older-ish games), and it's still having the same issue.

When I start the game, everything starts off fine, as it always does. The character creation screen and questionnaire run smoothly, as does the story bits. But once I pop into the game itself, it goes straight into a snail's pace...though the music plays normally. I'm at least somewhat sure the game is supposed to go a bit faster than it is, so how do I fix this problem?

EDIT: And to mention:

It's a Lenovo laptop with 8 GB of Ram, an AMD A8-6410 APU processor with AMD Radeon R5 graphics (2 Ghz) and has WIndows 10. I'm using Dosbox 0.74.

No, it's the downloaded version from the ES website.

I don't recall. I literally just load up DOSbox, mount the drive/folder, and access the game.

But as I said, it's been the same issue for every computer I've been on and tried it with.

If you change the cycles, is it better ?
For me, it's playable after changing them (F12 or ctrl-F12 I don't remember ...).

Take a look here:

http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Special_Keys

And specially:

CTRL-F11 Decrease DOSBox cycles (slows down the emulation).
CTRL-F12 Increase DOSBox cycles (speeds up the emulation).

That worked. I had to speed it up quite a bit to 15153 cycles for it to move about normally.
