hi
i've had this problem for as long as i've had 2 monitors, but i can't for the life of me find any info on the web about these (even anyone else having this problem, let alone a solution)

problem is, when i make a command prompt (or anything that runs in one) go fullscreen it makes my monitors clone, instead of either just maximizing in 1 window, or spanning across both

so, does anyone else have this problem? is there a way to get it to maximize in just 1 monitor and leave the other displaying the desktop

xp pro sp2, dualview, 2 monitors

sorry for asking here, just i don't know of a better place

I shall assume by use of the word DualView that you are using nVidia drivers. Please go to Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > [video card name] > Full Screen Video > Full screen video controls > Full screen device = Disable, not Auto-Detect or anything else.

Yes, it’s my fault.

it already is - my computers have always been set to that by default

the only other listing i have in that dropdown is auto-select

any other ideas? and yes, i am using the latest nvidia drivers

Considering that I experience similar behavior with my ATI card, I would expect that this is a limitation of Windows.

oh well, i had a feeling about that (guessing it's something where the dos emulation outputs to any/all video device when it goes full screen)

too bad these games cant run windowed, too bad they flicker in a vmware machine running xp or 98, too bad a vmware dos os gives a memory access error when loading sound blaster emulating drivers

anyways, thanks for the responses
