Not strictly retro, but I figured I'd share it anyway because I am bored. So today I obtained;
Two 12V 48 LED arrays of IR LED.
One USB Car Adapter.
Three D Battery holders.
And from a different site, One tub of flightless fruit flies for unrelated reasons.
The electronics I want to be here before Wednesday because I need them for something I am doing on that day. The project does use old parts in places, one of them somewhat notable, and will be used in the contet of something which is potentially very old, so this isn't strictly off-topic.
The fruit flies are just food for my spiderlings, as the last tub did not last long (having to feed probably around 150 spiders) I now only have two left here though as they became territorial, so it was time to let them go. I released them earlier today, so here is hoping they do well. The two I have left are in separate containers. It sucked having to let the rest of them go, I raised them myself and watched them grow from little blue-gray specs into small brown spiders, but there's no feasible way for me to keep upwards of a hundred spiders. I suppose I've given them the best chance they could get though as they wouldn't have been as well fed in the wild, they would have been exposed to cold temperatures and predators when at their most vulnerable. Now they're a little larger and are able to defend themselves against some creatures. Who knows, perhaps some day I shall see them again if I go back to the place I let them go. Here's hoping they live well and take down plenty of mosquitoes and other pests.
More on topic, I will be completing my part of a trade tomorrow if all goes to plan. Snail mail is the most retro thing here, I wish it was possible to send physical objects electronically,,, Actually, probably not, because people like me would abuse it, forging the mail header and sending dildos to random people's mail boxes. And no, before you start getting any ideas, such items will be omitted from this trade, the box will contain old computer components only - in short, a motherboard and some CPUs.
