Hmm, wonder what would happen if I coupled a Trident with my HP Vectra PIII...

So, what would be the worst and most pathetic piece of graphics adapter back then? (ISA/VLB period) - I mean something that bad that it becomes interesting?
Got my 8bit 3com 3c503 for my 8088 build! I did some googling, you can apparently put the XTIDE ROM into the socket and it works (not 100% on the details tho).

That would be the Rendition Verite / V2200 card. Which when used in DOS, is actually a "Decelerator" in that it is so bad for DOOM performance that i can slow down DOOM run on a pentium-166 system to at or below 386 speeds.
I'm back 😀
Anyways I just bought a Quadro4 900 XGL (GeForce4 Ti4600) for a new build. Still trying to make my perfect Windows 98 box. It was listed as working with a swollen capacitor. Only cost $30 total with shipping. I will order a full set of replacement caps tomorrow.

I actually extracted one of my tridents from a Tualeron system at work. It had AGP, PCI and only a single ISA slot, which housed the videocard! I can hardly imagine the torturous experience 😀 Unfortunately, the mobo was toast.

Grrr. I want this SCC-1 card that just showed up on ebay, but I won't pay $400 for it.
I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O
Where did you find that? I'm unable to locate it so maybe it has already ended?

EDIT: Just sent seller a strongly-worded message.

Scroll down and choose anything you like.... http://vgamuseum.info/index.php/benchmarks/quake-320 . Almost all early VGA cards were really slow and they had problems even with drawing fonts on screen - you can see drawing text on screen with some cards.
Not only mine graphics cards collection at http://www.vgamuseum.info
$5! still has the sealed pouch in the back with the disk, never used.

I can only speak for my 10mhz 286 machine. I have a Trident-9000 in it at the moment.
I have ordered a Trident-8900c, just for testing the speed out, on the 286.
The machine came with an EGA adaptor, wich are slower than the Trident.
The benefits are that I can use a "modern" monitor, and yes, a bit faster.
If it was a 486, I would go for something better. CL-54XX, ET4000 or something like that.
Tridents are cheap, and fine enough for machines up to 386sx33, perhaps the cheap
pricetag are what's making them become attractive for 286's.

wow, thats an expensive book on ePay! I want one now!
Anyway, this is what I found at a thrift store today:

No cables or accessories for either one. I will go back in a few days, hopefully the ac adapters/ pointer/ etc will show up. Everything was 50% off, so it was all priced right. I will probably sell both. haven't given it any thought yet.

Well this got delivered while I was at work yesterday.
Unfortunately, as mentioned, the plastics didn't hold (no thanks to AusPost in their part). Seems it was mishandled a bit, surprise surprise. I'll see how I'll go about fixing it, but I intend on merging my existing unit with this one and try to make a whole good unit.
New machine:

Side by side with my existing one:

A Libretto is definitely on my to-get list when I finally get my own place and some funds together. What was wrong with t'other one?
Ooh... So jealous 😁
I hope that turns out well, I always think those would make great travel gaming machines.
