Been a while since I posted, been in a Duke Nukem kick as of late playing II, Manhattan Project, and Forever and enjoying the heck out of them.

Still on Ultima Underworld. Level 7 is huge, and it seems it's much longer to get through than the previous levels. It's finally gotten challenging, but I've been playing for months now and wanting to finish it!

Manhattan Project, in retrospect, wasn't half as bad as they used to say after its release. The fact that DN3D was already long in the tooth, together with DN Forever being still vaporware back in 2002, caused people to have high expectations from a title in the series, which in turn caused bad reviews, low sales and this game being bundled for free with boxes of empty CD-Rs after a while...

That still surprises me because it is not only a good follow up to Duke Nukem II, but it is the best of the Duke spinoff titles.
Yup. It's more like a follow up to DN II, released at a time where everyone was waiting for a (basically THE) sequel of DN3D 🤣

The native Linux version of Unreal Tournament 2004.

Civ2, in a Win7 x86 VM (Nogo on the Win10 x64 host, even in XP compatibility, Indeo installer refuses to run, plus 7 x86 runs well enough for me to kick XP out of the VM list, while XP replaces 9x for installing on legacy hardware).

I'm very interested in this for PC but will wait for some patches me thinks, sounds a little underdone from what I've read.
Life? Don't talk to me about life.
I've been spending the bulk of my gaming time on Lands of Lore 1 on my DOS PC. About halfway through at the moment. The General MIDI sounds beautiful on my DreamBlaster S1!
Also still inching my way through Far Cry. I'm on the 8th checkpoint of the Control level.
Started System Shock 2 a few days ago and just in the beginning yet. Hoping to finish LOL soon so I can devote more time to SS2.

Finished N2O (PS1, 1998) on ePSXe and just started playing Ballistics v1.01 (PC, 2001) after seeing a screenshot here. I'm open to suggestions regarding other fast-paced, shiny, flashy, colorful seizure-inducing arcade games 🤣
Also thinking whether to start NWN1 again, just to play the premium addons I missed back then.

What is it you like about it, out of curiosity?

Two things mainly:
1) I like it from a technical point of view. As a programmer I've created before terrain generation, planet rendering code, L-system tree generation, etc. So I love to see a polished product like that.
2) I also like it from a gamer's point of view: the idea of exploring an entire universe and discovering planets after planets all different is appealing to me. You cannot "meet" anyone so effectively I have 2^64 planets all for myself. Also getting upgrades to my ship and exosuit appeals to my OCD.
My wife also started to play the game so that adds another level of enjoyment for me.

Yes, I got Rebel Galaxy on PS4 too (it was a free offering because of my Plus account). I liked the graphics and the combat system. But I quickly went back to No Man's Sky. I do plan at some point to revisit Rebel Galaxy as I feel it has potential.

I'm currently playing GODS off of The Bitmap Brothers Compilation, using the MT32 of course.
It's one of those games I've casually played many times but have never tried to focus on playing through the whole thing. The first two levels were fine but the third took me quite a few attempts to get through, I've just started the forth and final level now and I bet it's going to be really tough to finish.
I'm playing "Wait for the images to load in the 'What game are you playing now?' thread on my DOS newly WiFi-networked laptop".
Just in case you hadn't noticed that I was excited about it 🤣
