So I'm in the process of putting together a series of machines to cover all my dos/win9x needs from 1989 to 2000. So far I've built a Pentium III, a Pentium MMX166 and a 486dx2. That leaves 1989 to 1993(ish) for coverage. So I need a 386! 😁
So I basically already have everything I need including a AT case, RAM, VGA Card, Soundblaster, IO controller, HDD etc. So really all I need is a CPU and mobo (and from what I remember, most of the time back in the day these two came soldered together).
So looking for suggestions.
My only criteria are: Price: I'm not willing to pay the big bucks for some cool math co-processor that I don't need to play Kings Quest 5; and the battery/clock situation(I'm not great at soldering or using a dremel to open up a dallas RTC), although this isn't a deal breaker since some computer/electronic stores in the area could help me with this for a price.
So let me know what to look for!
