[Win 7 x64]
I have the original 4 diskettes version of SC2. I PKUNZIP'ed them and ran starcon2.exe through an unmodified, default installed DosBox.
The problems started at the copy protection questions (Name the planet ...). No matter what I input:
-if the game was started as "starcon2" it just crashes (a C:\> in the corner appears but the planet image remains);
-if the game was started as "loadfix -64 starcon2" it says error R6003 integer divide by 0;
-if the game was started as "loadfix -16 starcon2" it says "error R6003 integer divide by 0" and "error R6001 null pointer assignment";

If needed I can provide more details.
What can I do to play this version?
Thanks.

Are you saying the "original 4 diskettes" required you to manually use PKUNZIP? That doesn't sound right. What makes you think these disks are "original" ? Because a failure at the copy protection questions would be not at all inconsistent from what one might expect from an illegal copy.

You can purchase this game from GOG.com (which supplies it pre-configured with DOSBox) if you want. But I would suggest looking up The Ur-Quan Masters, which is the same game but with lots of nice new features; it should also run smoothly under Windows. I understand there's even an "HD" version now.

They didn't require that - I ran an "install.bat" which automatically started the built-in PKUNZIP, and extracted all the files to C:. From time to time it said "press a key to continue" as it began extracting the next disk/archive. Many old games had this system. Also I would like to find out what is wrong with this version, before trying out newer ones.

Many usually had their own installation programs. But whatever.

Did you follow the 60 Seconds Guide ? If you are running starcon2 from C:\ , that may be the cause of the problem; you should be mounting the parent directory of the subdirectory that contains starcon2 (e.g., so that you run the game from C:\SC2).
