Hi,
I'm trying to use this config a Celeron 1300 Tualatin, 1,2GB SDR, Via Apollo 133, passive Radeon 9600 256MB as HTPC and a Linux distro, Geexbox 3.1 version.
It seems to really need a PS 2.0 gpu even for the gui itself cause every other cards I've tried a bit older seems to boot in a "software mode" and always slow.
For this system Geexbox seems the only distro ready as it boot, but it really push the system to its limit with any standard dvd (cpu 90-100% with only bilinear filter).
Should I buy a Pentium III 1400 or some better cards on AGP4X? Or maybe there're better 32bit low end oriented distro? I tried a Geforce 6200 thinking it could be better but the distro has problems with the gui booting on it. I would say that if the menu GUI was simple as it was in the past players and without any smooth animation the whole cpu work would be MUCH better.
Thank
