Something like a POD 200MMX would give you a useful performance boost down the road, if required. Nothing wrong with it as is, though.
All hail the Great Capacitor Brand Finder

Lots of goodies from the post office today 😀
- AMD 486 DX2 Enhanced with 16 KB Write Back
- 2x ESS Audio Drive Sound Cards
- An Intel Pentium 4 board. An early model, uses SDRAM. Some of the caps are blown. Got to test it and if the board works I will replace themclipped....
Did anyone else see these photos and instantly go "Oh, Phil has something fun" ? 🤣. I was randomly scrolling and only saw the photos and not the post and recognized that hand.
wrote:Just got this awesome computer for 10$! It's just a Pentium 90 socket 5 with 16mb of ram but I'm gonna strip it all out and replace it with a Socket 7 mobo and make it totally kickass. 😁
As it has a tape streamer, it probably is a server. I would also leave it as is (and use it as a server).
Just got the 2nd AWE64 4390... I'm thinking which one keep?
The only difference I found is noumber on chip - one is 733D and 744D on the second...
Is one of them better?

@batrya
it is most likely just a date code of some sort. I doubt there is any significant difference.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
@luckybob - thanks.
So I'll try to "listen" maybe there will be some difference - if not - I'll keep one in better condition 😀

This arrived today. Is this the elusive Pro Audio Spectrum Plus?

Why sell one? One can't get enough AWE64 Gold's, you know. 😀
And if one dies, you have one as a spare-part.
Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

Better safe than sorry... I want to be prepared in case of unexpected exchange proposition 😎 to know which one is better to keep... For now both 4390 stays...
And if one dies... NO! No one is dying here 😉

Pro Audio Spectrum Plus numer is 650-0017... This one you have is 650-0014... It may be some revision of it? It's not Adio Spectrum 16 as far as I know.

PAS Plus (SCSI interface) = 650-0014
PAS Plus (Sony interface) = 650-0017
While elusive, I wouldn't think of any PAS Plus as being exceptionally desirable, given the backwards compatibility of the PAS16.
Thanks, Cloudschatze. I'll try the PAS 16 drivers to see if they work.
DriverGuide has the PAS Plus drivers, if you'd rather use those.
Even better, thanks!
Cirrus Logic CLGD5428 VLB
ISA Oak Mozart sound card with OPL4
ATI 28800-5 ISA
Need to find some memory chips to bring the CL to its full potential. I have all kinds of memory, but not 44256 chips. 🙁
I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
