So after getting into this hobby last year the POD83 has always kinda fascinated me. Last week I made an offer on one from Ebay and the seller accepted. So now I'm a proud owner of my very first POD83! yay!

Anyway, before I go plugging this cpu into my DEC Venturis 466 is there anything special I need to know? I think I've done my research/google fu on this chip but I just wanted to check with you guys first before I try it out.

Well it fits in the socket. It required less force than the Am486dx4-100 did so thats a good sign. I guess I'll start hooking up some peripherals and see if it boots...god I'm so nervous...I hope I don't fry this thing.

From the point of view of how top install it, it's just the same as a 486. It has a 33 MHz bus. What do you need to know?

See my graphics card database at www.gpuzoo.com
Constantly being worked on. Feel free to message me with any corrections or details of cards you would like me to research and add.

The POD83 is 5V, so it is unlikely that you will fry it unless you do something like inserting it in the wrong direction. As debs3759 said, it is intended to work with the usual Intel 486DX/DX2 jumper settings.

Well it didn't post but I'm not getting discouraged yet. I had this issue when trying the dx4-100 and I figured it out.
Here is a pic of the manual from '95. What jumper settings would you guys choose for the POD83? I'm thinking Other since this board was always meant for AMD cpus not Intel.

Pentium Overdrive 63/83 = P24T, so go with that setting on "CPU Type" jumpers. For the rest I assume you could choose "Others", and then 66/100MHz clock which I assume means 33MHz bus.

Thank you for the help. Your suggestions worked and it posted and loaded 6.22+WFW3.11.
Awesome! Thank again!
