Hi guys. Does anyone have a source for 486 L2 cache chips? I'm interested in buying some -12 or -15 64k chips for some of my boards...

eBay from Ukrainian sellers otherwise you will have to salvage from another board(s) to get what you need.

utsource.net has been good enough for me in the past.

They do have a lot of stuff but no filters and using the search box is a pain in the ass. After 20 pages I gave up...

I recall searching for cache chips for one of my boards. I wanted to see if there was anything faster than it originally came with. And after a long search I found that one of the manufacturers still made the particular chips I needed, but in SOIC form. The interesting part was that despite their different form, they were spec'd exactly the same as far as voltage and pinout, but were 45's rather than 60 or 70.

There are SOIC to DIP adapters... 😉

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I have a number of UM61256CK-20 chips that I'm willing to send you for the price of shipping. Cheapest would be around $13. Let me know.

UTSOURCE and Aliexpress are generally good, but You have to enter the whole part number, especially with Aliexpress, other You get nothing.

Thank you for the kind offer. I'm looking for -15 or -12 (66MHz capable) 64 kilo cache chips to use in my LS486E-C2 boards. These only have 4 cache slots so for 256k I need 4x64k chips (512k branded). I have several 256k branded -20 chips myself salvaged from dead boards.

Thanks for the link, but these chips are too small (32k). I need UM61M512K-15 and I found these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/10pcs-lot-UM6 … 3e-360b5dc30817

But they say DIP 32 - would those work?

You're welcome. Unfortunately that's all I have (got them from a lot of electronics parts from a liquidator on ebay - about 300 of them NOS in original tubes. I also have about 200 Siemens 80286-12 PLCC from the same lot 😁)
