I have a rather unusual Roland MT200 (more info in this thread) synth\mixing\recording module, and I'm hoping to find a way to tell definitively whether it works properly for its intended purpose or not. As mentioned in the other thread, I get some hanging notes, effects that seem to hang when stopping and restarting tracks, and other strange behavior when doing simple testing on my DOS\9x system, and using the same interface at the same exact time I get no problems with an SC7, so it appears to be the unit causing problems. I'm inclined to blame this on the fact that this device is only really intended as a recording and mixing device, not as a synth module for PC games... but I don't know.
Since it doesn't really work for my purposes I'll probably try reselling it, so that I can get something more geared toward computer games (like an SC55), but I want to be able to test it more fully to be sure that it plays music properly without hanging notes or other problems.
I have a Roland UM-ONE USB interface I can test it with, as well as my 9x system that has a MIDIMAN MM401.
Are there any particular songs or diagnostic programs that are made to test the reliability and functionality of MIDI devices like this?
(also, if anyone has experienced these problems before, by all means, let me know what was causing it)
