Ok...
A little background story. I sold a complete computer, and got enough for it, in order to pay for an ET4000 card.
I had my eyes set on a specific card, because it just looked so cool. I had the money, and I REALLY wanted it.
Anyway. Ordered the card, waited, and was greatly disappointed when this arrived in the mail today.
I have sent a message to the seller explaining the situation. Boy would I have expected something different from
a UK based seller. 🙁 Now I am thinking that eighter I will have to ship the card to them, or I will get a refund.

I ordered an ET4000 card some times ago, because I wanted that exact model. And what I recieved instead, was this card:

The attachment Kortet.jpg is no longer available

So....
Are they equally worth? Or what would people here say that they are worth on their own?
(ET4000 16bit ISA and ET3000 8bit ISA)

If I can get a refund of the difference in what is stated on the invoice, and what I paid more originally.
I will set this up for sale, and then go hunt for another ET4000 ISA.

It might not be that much worth. I just want to keep some options open.

Not sure what it's worth but being 8-bit with VGA and EGA (I assume that's what that is) seems pretty interesting. I don't know how common those are\were but the only EGA+VGA card I have is 16bit. It'll work in an 8bit slot if there's enough clearance but it is a little strange to do that IMO.

This could be worth a decent amount of money to someone looking to build an 8bit system.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Thanks for the input guys.... 😀

Not really my taste.... If I can get the those 9.99 euro back, that I paid more for the ET4000.
Then I will keep it or put it up for sale. I was however, hoping for an ET4000 instead of this.
8bit vga cards are not really my thing, so it will eighter be sold off or kept in the stash.
Though looking at XT era stuff, not being used, are somewhat stupid I guess.

I did a little research on Tseng cards awhile back and two things seemed to be true of the ET3000:
1) it's fairly rare today
2) it was considered slow compared to its peers at the time

If you google old PC Magazines, I think you'll find it in a comparison review. That's where I remember reading about its slow performance.

Regarding the seller, it seems if you make a big enough stink, you might be able to get them to send you the card they advertised (assuming they actually have it) without making you send this one back. I think it would be fair to charge you the difference (9.99) and let you keep both cards.

The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know.

You bought it on eBay right?
I would leave NEG feedback saying that you were sent something else. If the seller does not make it right. Even if you want to keep it, you bought one card and received a different one that's alone is grounds for a NAD case.

if you file a not as described case you will not have to pay return shipping.

It is an ET3000. And yes. They seems to be rare. This however will not keep me from contacting the seller. 😁

Yes. It was through eBay that I bought it.
NAD? How do I do that? I just messaged the seller. And waiting for a reply.
Seems only fair, that I give the seller a chance. 😀

EDIT:
Left a negative feedback. Gave 100 positive for both shipping cost and how fast it arrived.
I left neutral on seller communication, because I have not recieved reply yet.
And I left as negative feedback as I could, about the item it self that I recieved.

NAD... Not As Described

Don't leave negative feedback just yet. It might be an honest mistake. ET3000 isn't any less valuable then what you've wanted - so I'm sure it's a mistake. Just talk to the seller and I'm sure you'll reach some agreement.

Visit my AmiBay items for sale (updated: 2025-10-29). I also take requests 😉

Too late.... Left the feedback a minute ago.
Anyway. Hope it will attract the sellers attention, and he/she will be able to provide some viable solution.

In my experience they are more likely to take care of you if you tell them you are holding off on negative feedback until you see how they take care of you. Negative feedback before giving them a chance to respond tends to make them less likely to want to take care of you.

How long have you waited for a response? Typically sellers are given 48 hours to respond, which is reasonable. You can still edit your feedback within a certain time frame.

Well.... I thought that kixs meant doing it through feedback. So that was what I thought it was. This is how I usually do it, as this way was what I found, first time I did it.

Aww, an ET-3000! Nice card. It had a "hardware window" feature, if I do remember correctly.
I think it was a view port for text-mode or similar. This was removed in ET-4000 again (speaking under correction).
Also, this card did perform the copper demo very well. 😀

Anyway, I can't give any recommendation for or against it, as I haven't done any benchmarks so far.

Hmmm.... Searching for "hardware window", I stubled upon this interresting website...

Is there a tread here on Vogons, dedicated to these sort of site's?

How long is that? I would personally retract my feedback as now they lost their intact 100% status.

If the seller cares about his or her ratings and really wants to work things out the two of you can get that negative feedback retracted but honestly your should just get to keep the card then either given the different or sent what you had actually ordered which is fair. Sellers Should always be careful so to not make mistakes like this and know what they are selling if not they shouldn't get full price on anything.

The best outcome would be to get the right card shipped. Wich is my first choice.
If they send the right card and let me keep the 8-bit, then that's even better.
Though this is my second best choice of an positive outcome.

Eighter way. If the outcome is positive and I can live with it, then I will retract my feedback.
Seems only fair enough to do it this way.
