Hi team,
I need your help/advice...
I am trouble trying to fix the below:-

W95-PrimarySecondary%20Error.jpeg
(Snapshot from my Note3)

I do not know why my Win95 Fresh install, show an Exclamation Mark. I am only guessing... "it is driver issue" .

I try several fix :-
1.
I did some googling and found - https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/i-have-a … ntroler.583794/
and the fix was:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\IOS
In the right pane, right-click the NOIDE value, and then click Delete.

But I do not see any "NOIDE" value in that registry, so I don't think it is related.

2. I download Via Drivers from http://download.viatech.com/en/support/driversSelect.jsp
, Retro Chipset (https://d34vhvz8ul1ifj.cloudfront.net/Driver/ … A_4in1_443v.zip) for win95,
and install it.
Still No Go.. 🙁

3. I try reinstall Windows 95 OSR2, and still show the same exclamation mark. 🙁 But windows 98 SE, has no exclamation mark. 😘

What gives? Any idea guys? Am I missing an important Win95Fix or any Win95 Driver that I should try? 😵

Here's my motherboard spec :-

If you did install the chipset drivers, then it's possible you have a conflict with another device.
If you double chick one of the exclamation marks, what error message does Windows display (i.e., it should indicate what is the cause of the error).
Try downloading the VIA 4in1 driver package again from this location (version 4.43): http://download.viatech.com/en/support/driversSelect.jsp
Uninstall and reinstall.

Use 98lite if you want to reduce the resource footprint (or just strip components you know you won't need).

Depends on what's causing your problem. If it's a hardware problem or a corrupted driver, it likely will remain. If it's just driver settings which can be resolved by reverting to defaults, it might clear the error.

Hmm.. Okay.. I will go home and try this...
In fact, I decided to re-install Win95 again. After re-installation, I will try your driver. I'll update here if I had fix it, or not...

I would just go with 98.

Yea.... true.. But I have 95 98 and XP (not ME coz I dont have winME) , just wanna show my kids (if I ever have kids) what was it like, back in the 90s... xD

But it isn't free... and I do have Win98 SE, so Naa.. dont really want the 98Lite.... unless it's free..

What happens if you "Remove" the devices with exclamation marks, reboot, then click "Refresh"? Do the devices come back, still with exclamation marks?

Yup, I did this .. and yes, it still comes back with exclamation marks. It didn't fix it...

Well, There is no errors on "Resources", so... I think it is a driver issue..... Anyway, once I go home, I'll show a screenshot of it.....

I'll go home tonite and update you asap......

What is the "VIA RAID controller" in there? I'm not expecting any onboard firmware RAID on a socket 7 board, so do you have a RAID controller card installed or something? That might be related I guess.

Nope.. its not that VIA RAID Controller.. I just took it out to test it, and it isn't causing the issue. It doesn't perform any Raid, just a single SATA to my 1TB, to access my library of games. 😀

I managed to find the culprit. If I disabled the Primary Master from BIOS...... it resolve the issue, look below:-
ERROR%20PRIMARY%20IDE1.jpeg
ERROR%20PRIMARY%20IDE2.jpeg
ERROR%20PRIMARY%20IDE3.jpeg

ERROR%20SECONDARY%20IDE2.jpeg
ERROR%20SECONDARY%20IDE3.jpeg
ERROR%20SECONDARY%20IDE1.jpeg

ERROR%20BIOS.jpeg

If I Disconnect My Primary Master (or I put NONE in BIOS), it will will resolve the issue... ----> Device Manager will show "Single FIFO" on both Primary and Secondary without exclamation mark! (Screenshot above)

But If I Connect My Primary Master... problem arise.. ----> Device Manager will show "Dual FIFO" on both Primary and Secondary with exclaimation mark!

My Primary Master is a 40 GB Harddisk, jumper capped 32GB limit for compatibility with 2 partitions, Win98 and XP. Both are good.
Only when I boot to Win95, it has those exclamation marks.

I think this one, I decided to live with it.... It doesn't really impact the usage of my windows 95, but it is annoying to see those in Device Manager... 🤣

Sorry for the necro bump, but this reg "hack" solved this issue for me.
Installing my "Jazz 16" in DOS (added CD drivers) shuffled IRQ's around and W95 couldnt resolve it by its own.
