Hi,

Are there any half-height / Low-profile PCI SB16 SoundBlaster or compatible Cards that will work in DOS?

Or maybe a way to gently bend the card in half so it fits in a small case? 😀

A flexible PCI riser may be a better option than bending a card. I can't think of too many low profile sound cards... and probably none of them are old enough to be good for DOS.

Your best bet would be to look for a Yamaha ymf-724 based PCI card and try to shoehorn it in with a PCI riser. The connectors on the back are definitely going to be tough to work with though.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

It depends on your motherboard/chipset. Some ALS4000 cards are half heights and also works very well under DOS with the right chipset.
Have a look at my compatibility spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1cvhr6 … dit?usp=sharing

Also I've seen low profile YMF744 cards on ebay. And AudioPCI variants like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CT5806-Creative-Labs- … poAAOSwBLlVcQOV
And then there are CMI chipset cards, but I've never used one in DOS so I can't tell how well they work http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-4-Channel-5-1-Sur … TIAAOSw65FXwbLt
(edit) and ESS maestro2 http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-4-Channel-Surroun … HwAAOSw~OdVZEUe
