Ever since I watched vetz's video on the subject I've wanted to try out the 3D card specific versions of MechWarrior 2. The texture/model differences between each version are very interesting and they both give each version an unique atmosphere. I do want a PowerVR card one day so I could try out what is probably the definitive version of the game.

I have a Voodoo 2 8MB and a Matrox Mystique and have gotten both working with their respective versions of Mech2, but I am having some issues specific to each.

3DFX - The game freezes on the F3 satellite view screen if you zoom out beyond 500 meters or zoom in beyond 125 meters.

Mystique - Everything works, except for exiting/quitting a mission. Instead of taking you back to the menu with your results, the game exits to the desktop.

I am using the conversion files that are stickied on the Windows forum. The 3DFX issues may have something to do with me using a Voodoo2, but I am running the game using the V2 compatibility batch file here.

Try the Titanium Edition, it supports the glide API and uses the standard "glide2x.dll" method.

Radeon HD3850 Agp (Sapphire), Catalyst 14.4 (XpProSp3).

Titanium Edition is probably the worst release of Mech2. It's best to stick with a standard Win95 version.

Regarding the 3DFX freeze. I can't remember it crashing, but that is very specific. The version have a performance bug with torso movement when using the mouse, so it could be a bug in the satellite view.

The Mystique version, again can't remember crash to desktop. Do you have the option to test on another computer?

I could test these later on my P1 system. I normally play the PowerVR version, so haven't got too much experience with the other versions.
