It seems I'm not the only one with major problems with the keymapper in DOSBox. I looks like it's been a long standing problem that the devs have no interest in resolving anytime soon. None the less, since the Festivus pole is up I might as well air my grievances with the keymapper.
It looks like everything is mapped properly, backslash to backslash, right shift to right shift, etc. But for some odd reason, DOSBox is not interpreting the mappings correctly. Other problems and "solutions" tried:
- set sdl_videodriver = windib ---- nope, doesn't work. Besides, it's hard to type "=" with a FUBARED KEYMAPPER!
- setting sdl_videodriver to "WinDIB" in program options or as a profile's environment var --- Doing nothing produced better results.
- Deleting/regenerating mapper files --- I had better luck getting Jean-Luc Picard to switch to coffee.
- Uninstalling/reinstalling DOSBox --- Call it a workout because it was just an exercise if futility.
I only noticed this problem within the past week, so there's no telling how long the problem has persisted.
