I've tried various versions of Memtestx86 and none will successfully boot; they all simply freeze with floppy disk spinning.

Is there another alternative? I believe I've got some bad RAM.

CheckIt! can also test memory, perhaps it will suffice for that purpose.

Actually I think it may be a PSU problem. I just noticed my lo-tech IDE adapter power led is flicking considerably, and I've already swapped out my RAM for brand-new chips.

I believe memtest86 has a compatibilty mode for older hardware. It may still not work on such old systems though.

Is this too much voodoo?

For testing memory chips i would rather use hardware tester solutions.. Iam really not fond of using software solutions. Most of those software testers are really junk, or dont give you the right test result.

~ At least it can do black and white~
