I've been having a couple issues with Metropolis. The main one is the reporter not showing up in the information window when you get the news. I can get her to show up if I switch DOSBox to a Tandy machine but then for some reason the digitized speech becomes garbled. I can get the sound and the reporter in CGA mode but then I'm left with 4 colors.

I was thinking that maybe there is a way to combine the Tandy machine graphics while using the PC Speaker emulation instead of the Tandy Sound one, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I tried using Tandy mode and shutting off the Tandy Sound but that just leaves the game silent. I even tried making a bootleg SVN build but I wasn't able to figure out what I needed to change in the source since my programming skills are too weak.

I would appreciate if anyone could think of a way in DOSBox to use the PC Speaker emulation in Tandy mode or point me in the right direction in modifying the source.

Thanks.

If you use the DOSBox-X build, you can use the "sampleaccurate" feature that should make the speech intelligible.

That seemed to do the trick. Thanks again! 😁

It's too bad that DOSBox-X doesn't seem to support Direct3d and its pixelshaders despite the options being in the menu, but I can live without it now that everything else seems to work fine with the game itself.
