So I'm keeping one socket a system for Windows 9x.

I have the kt600a in it atm but I'm torn between 3 on which to use.

FIC-AZ11E with Athlon 1200B
ECS KT600-A with Athlon XP 2500
ABIT NF7-S2G with Athlon XP 2500

The FIC is more 9x, the ECS supports 9x better than nforce2 and has SATA, While the ABIT is nforce and SATA.

Of Corse I also have an ECS K7VTA3 V8.0.

Rest of specs,

MSI TI-4200 64MB
dual WD80GB drives
120GB SATA (have pci sata riser)
512mb DDR 3200 or 512mb PC-133

OO OO ABIT ABIT

They are the best, and cap problems are nonexistent on Socket A systems.

the K7VTA3 should support the 2500+ and has 3.3 universal AGP. They are decent boards.

For win9x I'd go with either the FIC-AZ11E with Athlon 1200B or ECS KT600-A with Athlon XP 2500. As for the NF7... nforce 2 doesn't go too well with win9x. It will run win9x, it has drivers for it, but said win9x drivers suck (to put it mildly).

I think the 1200Mhz athon is fast enough for your win9x needs and you should be able to run some dos stuff as well. The GF4 ti is a great card - it can run win9x games at up to 1600x1200 effortlessly @ very good framerates.

Yea nope no agp2x on the k7vta3 v8. It has the kt400 chipset that was hobbled not a true kt333

uh it's one of those CF revision boards huh... yuk. I have a ver 6.0 witch has a proper KT333 rev CE chipset that support 3.3v agp and 166MHz fsb so I assumed your rev 8 does as well since it looks nearly identical...

I would go for one of these two first, before exploring the other boards.

- FIC-AZ11E with Athlon 1200B
- ECS K7VTA3 V8.0.

The reason being, are that they both have universal AGP, thus can handle all Voodoo cards.
(in theory that is)

Do a bench test setup, and see what is the best for you.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

As I said the K7VTA3 does not have a real KT333, its a crippled KT400 🙁

dose the FIC-AZ11E had universal AGP?

Anyway Id go for the ABIT unless if the FIC-AZ11E has universal AGP and you plan on using older agp cards.

It's a painful choice 😢

And ime sA boards had their fair share of problems with their caps.

I plan to use my Ti 4200 and buy a pair of Voodoo 2's down the road for Glide. Only Glide card I have currently is a Banshee and it's to slow for the few glide games I have like Rouge Squadron and Unreal

Go with the ABit, you might want to recap it. But if you ask me it the best of the 3.

I decided, no Nforce2 as I wan the best possible 9x stability, so that left the VIA boards. Since I'll be using my Ti-4200 64mb card as the only AGP card I went with the ECS KT600-A. It has the SATA ports built in, it also runs my XP 2500 at 200mhz without a hitch, which ironically the Abit board needed a slight voltage bump to do.

Final Configuration

Athlon XP 2500 @ 2200/400
ECS KT600-A
2x512mb DDR400 2-2-2-5 1T (system.ini modified for proper support)
20gb Western Digital IDE (OS)
80gb Western Digital IDE (Install Directory for games)
120gb Western Digital SATA (Place to store ISO's and secondary game hard Drive)
Windows ME with ME Unoffical Service Pack
Seasonic 650W PSU
