Someone should make some MS-DOS wallpapers. One idea: just a black wallpaper with command prompt.

The hard part wold be making an aesthetically pleasing ms-dos themed wallpaper, but not impossible. I have a couple of ideas 😜

Also, it would be cool if an admin would put all pictures in the first post of the thread - like I did with the thread I had that got merged with this one - for convenience.

It was me who merged it, so I'll give it a shot when I get a chance. However, after the merge, SquallStrife has the first post. Not sure if he wants that responsibility to maintain it. Also note that there is no longer a thread dedicated *only* to OEM wallpaper, I didn't think it was needed and someone else also recommend it be merged. Also, I *did* make it sticky near the top of Marvin.

Cool. If SquallStrife doesn't want to maintain it I'm game. I'm planning to upload quite a few wallpapers as it is - been working on quite a few but haven't released and they're unfinished since it's hard to find properly sized / quality pics and promo materials for them - and PMing someone to add them to the first post in the thread is kind of a pain in the ass.

I'll have a go at merging everything later tonight, or on the weekend depending on home stuff.

Right now Im looking for a wallpaper for my SLI Voodoo+ AMD K7 setup. Any chances for that to appear in this thread? 🤣

yup. 1 sec.

EDITED:

There you go:

The attachment v2sli_a_non_XP1.jpg is no longer available
The attachment v2sli_a_non_XP2.jpg is no longer available

Now I have a little request - I'd like to make a dos insipred wallpaper, and I'd like it to have a POST table on top, some autoexec / config stuff on the bottom and of course the command prompt.... lile:

-----------------------------------------------------------
POST table with ports, memory, cpu info etc

--------------------------------------------------------

Starting ms-dos....
Himem is testing extended memory.....done
c:\_

But I can't find any post table screenshots so can someone please make a screen capture of an old 486 or pentium or something during DOS post, with the POST table visible? I have no capture hardware whatsoever.

you are most welcome.

Right regarding my request - this is what I was talking about:

The attachment asus-a7n8x-deluxe-bios-post13.png is no longer available

I need a quality screen capture from the post screen of a 286 / 386 / 486 / pentium machine to make a wallpaper out of. I could kind of use that, but it need a lot of modding because I don't want USB devices, 40gig HDD's and alike showing up.

Any of you have a decent VGA capture device and an older PC to make a few snaps for me? I'd like to complete clueless1's wallpaper request.

I have a few videos up captured from 386, like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rt6xf43nnFg
You can see the BIOS config box at about 40s. Maybe the quality is sufficient (set to HD)?

Unfortunately not 🙁 ripping a shot of youtube gets me severe compression artifacting... I need a direct rip from the source video (preferably uncompressed, but something like a PNG or really high quality jpeg would suffice).

@kanecvr - cool! 😀

Glad you like the idea - let's see what comes of it (if I get the material I need that is).

Well - time to fire up the ol' z800 and get to modding what I have so far - I'll post what comes of it (nothing if I'm not happy with the end product).

ok - got one of your requests ready:

16:10 1440x900:

The attachment abwg_R1_16.10.jpg is no longer available

16:9 1920x1080:

The attachment abadonwareguy_request1.jpg is no longer available

If you want the logo's moved to a specifc position, let me know. Also, what background image would you like for the 680i SLi? Nvidia promo materials, an actual motherboard shot or something from a game?

The source image itself is 16 bit. Let me see if I can convert it to PNG or BMP - that might fix the color issues.

EDITED - OK, try this one - it's a 16 bit BMP - it should look OK:

The attachment dell_1.rar is no longer available

I had to archive it since vogons won't allow .bmp files, and image hosting sites would convert it to .jpeg - witch causes some artifacting when displaying a 24 bit image in 16 bits (under win9x at least).

I can't find any either. One would have to be made, but that would require a bit of research into the company - and I'd also need to know what resolution you want it to be, as well as general design (some image bits should help). I could make a simple one say 1024x768 - 16 bit or 24 bit bitmap of a lime green gradient, the time computer logo in one corner and say and hourglass in the center or somewhere.

If anyone has any old Gateway wallpapers I would absolutely love to see those, the case my 98 Machine is in is Gateway and even though it's not OEM parts I think it'd be cool.
