Has anyone ever thought to make a micro-controller device that sits between the HDD LED connection and motherboard header?
I don't have this kind of skill or anything but just randomly was thinking about cool stuff.

So.. you have this device that you could route to a cheap speaker or w/e (old PC speaker?) and what it does is when the PC first powers on, it plays a spin up sound, then for subsequent signals like HDD R/W which would light up the LED it triggers head noise sounds to play through the speaker, passing the signal through to the HDD LED as normal.

idk I think it would be cool to have something like that. especially in the era of SSDs and really quiet drives. 😎

Interesting...
Or we can make it purely software... Just monitor the disk I/O activity and play sound effects accordingly. In this way it's easier to customize; heck you may pre-record some profiles and make your SSD mimic different classic drives.

seems like preloading the microcontroller and having it intercept on a basic signal trigger would be the simplest way to implement it though. Software would require knowledge of god knows what under the hood, no?
