Women (wives) usually get what they want... eventually! I'll probably have to die first though. My computers and the ole benz will be the first to go. Hey, maybe there should be a vogons database of who we are leaving our rare computer parts to at death, otherwise some rare parts might make their way to the recyclers.
Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.
It looks like a escort because it more or less is and escort. I kind of wish it had the 1.6t just for the turbo sound but the 1.9l is a good engine (for a blender 🤣)
I do like how it looks, sort of like a fox body but with more of a hatchback and conservative look.
I don't think there is one thing on the car that's not interesting in a odd kind of way. Like how its a 5 speed with cruise control. Even has a rear hatch defroster, but the wiring is ran though the hatch struts. Funny thing is the rear spoiler probably ways 50-60 pounds. 😕
I have it tuned up pretty good and it does a quarter mile in a whooping 24 seconds 😵 It will probably never win a heads up race but with a dial in I bet it will cause a lot of red lights. 😈 Not that I plan to race it, but it would be funny to.
No, more like a 4 cylinder diesel. A 240D to be exact. It has all of 62 horse power but has the weight of a truck. If going up a hill, look for me driving on the shoulder with my emergency flashers on.
The only vehicle that I might be able to overtake is a 1st/2nd generation Volkswagen bus.
Nice car - what color is yours? My parents also had a 240D in the early '80s... they kept it for around 10 years until we had a big scare when my dad wasn't able to overtake a truck while a car was coming toward us the opposite way... they then decided it was a matter of safety to get a more powerful car 😲
I remember the engine noise... very loud and "tractor like". When my dad put it up for sale it had 110,000kms on the clock... we thought it was a lot but there were more than 20 people calling home the morning the car-ad newspaper was issued... everyone wanted it and they seemed to think 110,000km was nothing for a car like this - It sold the same day.
10 years ago I visited Portugal and most of the taxis I got in in Lisbon were W123, W124 or W201 Mercedes... all of them had like 800,000km on the clock, maybe even more. These cars were definitely built to last and I wonder if any car they make now will last as long.
The thread title does not mention the word "car" (or "own" for that matter) so here is what I drive in my free time (that is my daughter whom I hope will become a pilot at some point).
That Ford EXP is incredible! Would love to take it for a spin.
I've got four (cheap) cars now, two of which I'm trying to sell. My Saab 9000 is still in storage, and over the holidays I picked up two 5-speed Volvo S70s...
...bought the one on the right, liked it, found a better one for the same price, bought it too. Trying to sell the first one now.
I watched the Lumina episode and related videos today! Was great seeing your car featured. I always enjoy seeing clean, well-kept examples of ordinary, "boring" cars (which I guess is the reasoning behind the channel's name).
Luminas are awesome. Reminds me of the movie Days of Thunder with tom Cruise as Cole Trickle, where he races on the street with one vs. Rowdy Burns! 🤣
I think the stock car he raced in the movie had lumina badges on them too.
Monday or tuesday i get my new car, depending on when the registration document arrive.
The rims are just for the winter tires, the summer rims are also black.

Its a handful to drive and then some. The clutch is very touchy and not powered, no tach (broken), low idle and hates low RMPS. That and lots of under steer. Add all that up with the fact that its a 5speed with 90hp and most drivers will have a handful.
Once you get up and going its OK, Just stay away from turns and hills. 🤣
