I have the ABit KR7A-RAID (Socket A) and I was wondering does it support the Athlon Thorton 3100+ CPU

Essentially I want to know what the fastest CPU I can stick in this board is. Thanks.

No it can't run Thorton at full 3100+ which requires 200 FSB. The board officially supports up to 2100+. It might be able to run Barton XP 2800+ with 133 x 16, which is somewhat similar to running K6-2/3+ at 66*6. Anything higher than 133 FSB is considered overclocking the chipset.

It might work but not at full speed. This board has KT266A chipset... which means 266 MHz FSB. Thorton 3100+ is using 400 MHz FSB. AXP 2800+ (or lower) Thoroughbred is the best match.
