Hello!
I've been busy the last couple of days, building this Win98 computer.
Specs:
Asus P4C800E + Pentium 4 EE 3.4GHz
DDR 400, 2x512MB, CL2
Geforce 6800 Ultra AGP
Intel® SSD X25-M Series, 80GB
Aureal Vortex2 - what I think is a SQ2500 version.
Corsair HX620w
Fractal Design R5 - Modern cases for older hardware is not for everyone, but my god, it is so easy working in and with modern cases.
Noname USB DVD reader - It's just that much easier mounting discs that way and not having to open the front of the chassi.
Eizo S2431W 1920x1200 - This one I think is doing correct aspect ratio (please correct me if i'm wrong though), as long as the resolution is 640x480 or higher. Any lower, it will upscale it to 720x400. Earlier dos games is thus out of reach for this build, but then again, it was not meant to play them either. Same goes with the PCI soundcard and early dos gaming.
Windows 98SE+KernelEx
I acquired most of the components some time ago, and just now had some time complete it. It's somewhat inspired from PhilsComputerLab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rr2r_mvKfuQ
I'm still waiting for a Dreamblaster X2, http://www.serdashop.com/DreamBlasterX2 and it also seems I need to acquire a new PSU, as its having some problem powering everything with the MOLEX connectors. Nvidia control panel sometimes complains that the card is downclocking as it is not getting enough power. The 6800 Ultra is powered by two molex connectors. I've learned that these kind of stuff needs not to be rushed. I find a suitable PSU when I find it 😀
