4 legs completely broken off, no way to solder to them? You may be able to open up a little space using something like a Dremel and solder to them. Yeah you could make it worse but the chip is already dead to you anyway.

Otherwise, what is the part number of the ROM chip?

(I don't know where my programmer is right now, but for what it's worth they are pretty cheap, like maybe $20 or $30 for a "Willem" programmer on Ebay which I think are clones of the SIVAVA product but that's what I have and it works fine when I know where it is)

On the bottom are only the number M652 and 9546, haven't peeled the sticker off the top yet.
The outer two pins are both twisted and then broken off, don't know if my skill is good enough to solder something on. 😐
He must have pressed the last two pins in on the edge and then pressed the chip in askew with alot of force..

Chip legs also get ruined if they are repeatedly removed and reinserted via wiggling them if you wiggle too much and bend the legs. That's probably what started this. You've gotta be fairly careful about pulling with even force if you're not using a chip removal tool.

I don't think those numbers will be enough but I'll run a few searches in an hour or two and if I do find anything I will let you know.

I would say go ahead and peel that sticker off if you're certain that you're not going to try to save the chip with a soldering iron. If it's an EPROM you will erase it this way, but if you're not going to fix it anyway...

You will need a M27C512, 4 needles and a programmer.

The 4 needles replaced the legs perfectly.

Shame my 486 board is bricked. I believe I sttufed many things in the BIOS socket. 😵

It's better to get a pin compatible EEPROM such as W27E512 or 27SF512 and write the bios file in it via an external programmer. You can toss your old BIOS chip if the new one works.

sidenote - I haven't downloaded that BIOS file but if it is .exe then make sure you extract it before you flash it (if you end up buying a flasher). Not sure if this was obvious to you or not, so I figured it might be best to make sure. Hopefully it's not the flash tool with the BIOS integrated, or if it is, hopefully it's not too difficult to extract the BIOS image itself.

When I am home this evening I will see if I can extract the rom file.
Biggest issue is the ROM programmer, which is on my "want to have" list in the form of a TL866C programmer so I can also save files from motherboards, videocards etc. However due to the ongoing renovation of the house this €70 euro investment was too much right now.
I guess I will have to save a bit the next two months and buy one then.
