That doesn't make any sense. What is the exact error message that you are getting?

I will be playing a scenario in Lion and then my screen will go back to the command prompt. This is what it says:

CreateChannelBuffer 1
C:\LION>

If I try typing in LION to go back to the game it kicks me back to the command prompt saying the same thing. I have to exit and then go back in to be able to play the game. I don't know if it does it in the other scenarios, for the simulation, or for my Wolf game (1994)by the same company, I haven't tried it yet.

I think that's an error message from the game program, but I don't know what it means.

I didn't have that problem years ago when I played it on an older computer (I think it was a Packard Bell); I had to create a boot disk for it, because it is a DOS game. Do you know of anything I can do to fix it?

I tried the version from Home of the Underdogs with the latest CVS version of DOSBox. It seems to run fine except that there's no sound.

That's right, the version of Lion at HOTU is a cd-ripped version, and was stripped of all sound/music.(Sad that, it's like pulling the lion's teeth before you can take him out hunting...).

It's not saying that it wants you to do something, it's saying that it tried to do something and failed.

I don't have the original CD version, so I have no idea what the probem could be. You might try running a CVS build of DOSBox: http://cvscompile.aep-emu.de/dosbox.htm

If you're mounting the CD from DOSBox, you may want to try the -usecd and -ioctl parameters which are described in the readme.

I did mount the CD using the -usecd and -ioctl parameters. I have it written in the autoexec.bat of DosBox as:

mount D D:\ -t cdrom -ioctl -usecd 1
mount C C:\

So that it is run at startup.

Do I just go to that site in your post to run the CVS build of DOSBox?

What exactly does the prebuffer ( How many milliseconds of data to keep on top of the blocksize) do? Right now it is set at: prebuffer=10. Maybe I need to lower or increase it?

About mounting: Is "1" the number that DOSBox said you should use (just want to be sure)? If not, the readme describes how to get a list of numbers. Also, did you install the game from the CD from within DOSBox?

About the CVS: You'll want to click the download link and then unpack the files from the zip file (especially dosbox.exe) on top of your existing DOSBox files.

About the prebuffer: I don't know, but it probably won't hurt anything to play around with it.

Yes, I believe I did installl Lion from the CD from within DOSBox. Yes, 1 is the number DOsBox said I should use, bacause i only have the one CD Drive.

In between official releases, e.g. 0.61, 0.62, and 0.63, DOSBox is constantly being updated with small fixes. Sometime in the future, those fixes will be part of 0.64. The CVS build is something like 0.63½, so you will get a version that *maybe* has a fix for your problem. One warning though: Since the fixes have not been tested, you might also get a problem...
