Hello!

Im going to build a 486 PC with a AMD 486 DX4-100 (have both NV8T and the SV8B) and hopefully a VLB video card, problem is i've no idea which of this 2 mobos is better.

Option A:
ECS (i think) UM4981 AIO REV1.0

This rev doesn't support natively the AMD DX4-100, although it boots fine and says it's a DX2 at 100MHz (any problem with that?)

The attachment WP_20170417_23_00_26_Pro.jpg is no longer available

Option B:
FIC 486-PVT

The attachment WP_20170417_22_59_08_Pro.jpg is no longer available

Which one should i use???

IMO, Option A, but not having the boards take whichever one has pure 72-pin SIMM slots (Unless they both have them)

TBH I am in love with my EXP-4045, but that wasn't an option soooo.

Make it simple, max out performance via BIOS settings on both MBs and use same hardware (gfx card, cpu, ram) to bench doom1/2 on them, that way you'll know better than anyone else which MB is faster.

forgot to tell you what CPU to use. Use the SV8B, it's faster than the NV8T

Any problem with the UM4981 AIO Rev1.0 not supporting the DX-100?

It boots fine and report it as a DX2 100MHz, is there any danger of damaging something? I'll try both the ECS and the FIC and see which is faster anyway 😀

If it is running it at 3.3v or you are using a VRM adapter, then there is 0 issue. My guess is at the time the BIOS was programmed, the name DX4 didn't exist, so they just threw DX2 on there.
