Unfortunately you might be disappointed. The Matrox DRI drivers do support some of the Mystique cards, but at least with the G200 they were glacially slow last time I tried.
BSD currently doesn't use DRI for the mga driver, and may be better. Of course, they might have improved the drivers, but there was little appetite under Linux last time I looked. The only reason they bothered with G200 is that the PCIe variant is used as onboard video in various server boards.
Distrowatch to the rescue: https://distrowatch.com/search.php#advanced. Pick an architecture ex. i586, i486 and you'll have a list. From my personal experience I can recommend VectorLinux. Another thing is your clock speed, RAM and the weight of a Desktop Environment that won't be an overkill.
