I have an old DOS application that connects to a device via RS232

I have set my serial1 as:

serial1=directserial realport:com1

however when I try and connect from the DOS application it says serial port initialization error

There is an option on the application to set up com ports i.e.

COM1 address=03F8 IRQ4
