I'm working on XP, and DOS won't recognize a certain folder name just because it contains a space in it. I've tried underscores, wildcards, and tildes, no of which work. Can anyone tell me how to get DOSBox to recognize the folder?

Just rename it to comply with ms-dos naming convention, that is, eight characters for name (not including spaces and such) and three characters for extension (not needed for folders/sub-dirs IMHO).

It's Documents and Settings, so I can't rename it. I REALLY hate the idea of having to move my files...

type dir to see what name the directory actually has. also - dosbox supports command line completion much like linux does, so you just have to type the beginning of the name and then press tab.

What are you trying to do and what makes you think the folder isn't recognized?

Issuing a dir /x command, will show short filenames besides the long ones.

Not necessarily, short file name creation can be disabled on ntfs.
And I'm afraid, people will try this inside dosbox 😵

C:\DOCUME~1\etc. should work fine.
