Trying to figure out which one of my SB cards that I already have to put into my 486 DX2-66 PC...I know there are probably better choices but for now I have to pick from what I have...hoping for some advice:

Soundblaster 2 - CT1350B
Soundblaster 32 - CT3930
Soundblaster AWE32? - CT3670 - Cant tell if this is an AWE or not. The AWE chip is on it, but I see it listed as SB 32

I also have a bunch of assorted SB16's, but wasnt looking at those for now, unless they'd be a better option.

I also have a Soundblaster Pro 2 Card, but I had it pegged for a 386 I was going to build. Unless there is another option for the 386 and the SB Pro 2 could be best for the 486?

I am also going to be using the Roland UM-One MK2 Device attached to a mini laptop for MIDI sounds via the Game Port.

My personal choices for a 486dx2-66 are in the range of SB-Pro to SB16.
AWE or SB32 cards are something I would reserve for dx4/5x86 and faster.

I agree with brostenen. You can use these links to help you pick the best SB16 in your bunch:

Ok

With that in mind, I took a look at the links but still gives a range of choice. It looks like the CT2740 would be the best?

For the SB16 and clones range I have:

CT2740 - Has Creative 1747
CT2940
CT2980 - Has Creative 1978
CT2770 - Value - Has Creative 1747
CT2830 - Has Yamaha OPL

Acer Magic S20 - Has Yamaha OPL
Diamond K2Y-PRO16 - Has Yamaha OPL
Media Magic ISP-16 - Has Yamaha OPL

My goal is DOS - Win 3.11 gaming on it.

What about two cards in the system? Would there be a good combination with what I have available?

I'd spring for a SB pro

I have an SB Pro 2 but had that pegged for the 386 I was going to build

What could I put in the 386 if I take the Pro for the 486?

I swear I read somewhere SB 2 had issues with some 386 defendant speed games like Wing Commander...

I could be wrong....

CT1350B was my first card in a 486 but only because I couldn't afford a Pro, and stereo is handy in a 486. Fine for a 386 tho.

Tell us more about the Acer S20, that's potentially a cracker of a card.

What information about the S20 would you like?
