Earlier today, my brother was using the K6-2 machine that has the VooDoo3 2000 PCI card in it that I got yesterday, and unfortunately, the card overheated and artifacts are present. I put the heatsink fan that was on my CPU Heatsink (the GPU has a bigger fan) onto the GPU heatsink to no avail, and I have no idea what's going on. I can only get into Windows 98SE via safe mode since the system stalls when booting into normal mode.

This is why I go out of my way to improve the cooling on some cards especially 3DFX cards due to their inflated prices, chances are you got a cold joint and or the caps didn't hold up any longer to the heat. If all the usual doesn't work then you may have to consider reflowing or re-balling and recapping the card. Try it with a couple of other systems as sometimes 3DFX cards will act up for some random reason in some boards but not others.
