I started using it last week between xp and windows 10. So far not bad. Has anyone got it working on win 9x yet. Thats my next step when time avails. If using it with xp i think ssl should be off or i couldn't use my keyboard.

I hope someday it could do video switching as well.

IIRC I had to use an older version of Synergy for that to work and I haven't really done it in 10 years. The way my computers are arranged now would make this very strenuous and there's also some crappy ethernet cards on some of my rigs (those Dlinks can be real CPU hogs)

I once did it about a decade ago, back when I had my Pismo PowerBook G3 (that has since been sold). It was a neat way to bridge the Windows/Mac OS X gap without buying a hardware KVM, though I recall focus loss issues in my games when the cursor would try to jump computers.

Nowadays, it's going to be much more complicated owing to the fact that most software developers don't care about Tiger, Leopard or PowerPC in general any more (seriously, you have no idea how many times I keep stumbling into Intel-only builds), and I have a feeling that any version of Synergy old enough to work for that may wind up with some surprise issues when running Windows 10 on my main desktop.

It'd certainly help make my iBook G4 more useful than it is right now, at any rate.

The other challenge is that it seems like Synergy has gone payware, whereas I distinctly recall it being freeware or donationware in the past. I'm not sure I want to spend the dosh when it could just go toward a USB KVM.

I use Synergy today on my modern rigs, actually; a modern desktop (Linux) and laptop for work (Win10). I use the keyboard and mouse attached to the desktop to control the laptop when I have it docked.

It is payware now, but you can still find the free version online, 1.3.something, which is several years old, and might actually be old enough to still support Win9x.

This is why my downloads folder has never been emptied 😀
