I finally got my PowerMac 7300/180 working. Initially when I got it from eBay the processor daughterboard fell out of the slot and it sloshed and moved inside and I think it damaged the motherboard, as the computer would boot but not display anything. So I finally got a new motherboard (and a new PowerPC processor, at 166Mhz). After replacing the motherboard and putting more memory, now I have the computer working.
The specs are the following:
Processor: PowerPC 604e @ 180Mhz
Memory: 80Mb
HDD: 1Gb SCSI
CDROM: SCSI
VideoRam: 4Mb
OS: MacOS 8.5 installed clean
One feature my kids like is the fact that it has about 20 or so voices programmed and in the SimpleText application it can read you back anything you write. Very cool feature to come with the OS.
I already have a PowerPC Mac, the original Mac that has the PowerPC in fact, Performa 6100. But that is only 60Mhz and I wanted something more powerful. This is my 6th Apple machine. My next one will be a iMac G3.
There is a PCI card that adds PC compatibility with a Pentium 166Mhz so I am looking for that so I can install Windows 😀
