Have an interesting issue with one of my Go-Tek Floppy Emulators...
I am planning on installing the device in a 386 PC (25 MHZ) I am building. The system has the following:
SCSI 1 GB Hard Drive run by an ISA Adaptec AHA-1522A Controller
Go-Tek Floppy Emulator / 5 1/4" Floppy Drive run by ISA GoldStar Prime (PT-604A) IDE Controller
CD-ROM / ZIP 100 Drive run by ISA GoldStar Prime (PT-604A) IDE Controller
Soundblaster Pro 2 ISA Sound Card
TSENG ET4000 ISA Graphics Card
On my test bench, the system boots up fine, and the Go-Tek will boot from floppy image (Using a DOS 6.22 Install Disk) and get to the DOS install screen. You can see the activity on the USB Stick during the process as it blinks like normal. Once you go to install DOS However (After going through the few setup screens), the system will not read from the same disk image it booted from. When you attempt to start the DOS Install Process, the system will continually request System Disk #1 for DOS Install, and when you click Enter to start the install, the Go-Tek / USB Stick show no signs of activity before the system once again requests System Disk 1, with the USB Stick showing no blnking or signs of being read.
Using a standard 3 1/2" Floppy Drive, I dont have the issue. The system boots from the DOS 6.22 INstall Disk 1, and then will start the DOS 6.22 install from the same disk once you tell it to. The DOS install goes all the way through, using all 3 disks and completes without issue
Any reason why the Go-Tek will boot from the USB Floppy Image, but the system will not read or attempt to read the same USB image once you want to start the install? I have tried just randomly changing to other images on the USB Stick in the GO-Tek and there is never activity like the system is even trying to read the files...
