I'm having too many issues with USB mice/keyboards on my Intel SE-440BX based rig so looking into some ps/2 mice. Can someone recommend a model and what flavor - ball, laser or optical? Logitech SBF96 or MS Intellimouse seem to be popular from what I found so far.

On a side note, do the SE-440BX2 boards offer better USB support? What about any of the other later Slot 1 boards?

I've got several microsoft mice which are like this : https://i.imgur.com/iOTSauV.gif

Neat mice if you ask me : feels good, good compatibility (the mousewheel works under windows 98's gui ! The logitech I had before didn't work with that. It only worked in IE and in games) and it's quite solid

Are you USB to PS2 adaptors or simply plugging them into the PS2 ports?
If your not using the adaptors I would give them a try first before replacing your preferred mouse.

I doubt BX2 offers much of an improvement, it was still early days for legacy support and vast majority still used PS2 anyway.
P4 era is when I would consider non PS2 devices becoming somewhat standard.

No adapters were used. I have some and will try them out, just wanted a little feedback first.
