Got this in a trade the day before yesterday 😀
Got this in a trade the day before yesterday 😀
Oooooh an Amiga 500! My favorite system of all time, good times 😀 Enjoy!
I found a bunch of stuff in a junkyard sale. I'll admit that this was the first time I actually washed a piece of hardware with dishwashing soap and scrubbed it - the VGA card had every kind of dirt on it including rat piss. I also got an ALS120 sound card in addition to the below but no amount of washing and scrubbing would get rid of the dirt and corrosion, it just didn't work.
Taken PCI597-1 Socket 7 Motherboard, trying to figure out the jumper configuration for this thing, it's nowhere to be found on the internet.
Pentium 166 MMX CPU, ceramic package, pretty mundane stuff.
Cirrus Logic CL-GD5401 256K ISA VGA. My daily driver has an RX480 with 8GB VRAM on it inside, and so I thought about it, in 25 years the average VRAM on a video card has increased by 32,768 times. Just WOW.
Congrats on the Amiga500. It's a nice system. 😜
Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.
Those cakes make you sick....

Recieved that monitor wich are supposed to sync to 15khz. Looking forward to test it with my Amiga600.
The monitor was packed extremely well. If it works, then it is not bad for 38 US Dollars.
Some minor marks and scuffs. Nothing serious and to expected for a second hand tested monitor.
Sorry for bad pictures... Better ones will come if tested to work on the Amiga.

Wow what did you trade, your soul?! That's a nice score, congrats!
Life? Don't talk to me about life.

You've done good. Who needs to go anywhere when they have an Amiga 500 and an IBM XT to play with.
Got these two nice chips - they were quite the steal too.
I won a Socket 370 motherboard bundle on eBay that has the following:
Motherboard: Shuttle Spacewalker AV18 V3 (VIA Apollo Pro 133A) ATX
512MB SD-RAM (1.5GB maximum, unlike Intel Chipsets that support up to 512MB)
VIA C3 700MHz CPU <-- Going to upgrade to a Pentium III 933 SL52Q with a new Heatsink with a fan
VisionTek NV996.0 AGP Rev. B (nVidia Riva TNT2 clone) 32MB
D-Link DFE-530TX+ Rev. D2 FastEthernet PCI
Integrated Sound + GamePort/MIDI (RealTek/VIA AC'97) <-- Going to disable since it's probably not Sound Blaster compatible (I'll be amazed if it is, but, wonders never cease).
2x RS-232 ports and a Parallel Port
PS/2 Keyboard and Mouse ports
USB 1.1
I have a couple of ATX cases the system is going to use, plus my FX-6300 system, and the ports will line up nicely with the I/O shield with the board I'm getting.
The reason why is because my K6-2 machine isn't up to the challenge for H&L games, and some of the games run too slow. Best $22.55 I spent. Going to receive it either today or tomorrow.

I have "secured" (I really don't know the English word for it, in my home language is "apalavrei") a apparently non-working PPro brand machine with filled RAM Slots (EDO), a SB CT2980, Matrox VGA, should have SCSI too and a couple more expansion cards... for €10. I'm hoping the disk is a 50-pin SCSI so I can make my PM6100 work again.
Apart from that, I've also "secured" 20 or so SCSI HDDs (68-pin) and a dozen or so cards of all kinds for €50.
Almost forgot.... I got this for €7 or €7.50:

The English word could also be either scored or acquired/purchased, if my RAM serves me right.

Not really, those words are easily remembered... what I meant was that It's already being kept for me to buy, so not for sale anymore, but not sold yet...
Oh, yeah, in that case, "secured" is about right.
Main Box: Macbook Pro M2 Max
Alas, I'm down to emulation.

It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.
Won't fellow vogoners beat the hell out of me for double posting...?

<snip>
Looks like a clone of the nVidia GeForce MX 4000 Series cards. I have the MX 4000 PCI myself, and it sucks. Luckily, I got a new heatsink and the card still works, even with one cap broken off.
Well I never had a Kyro card, so I am going to try it out. It probably won't be great though.
IIRC Kyro is about on part with the TNT2 Ultra. Kyro 2 supposedly is in GeForce2 range.
BTW as I write this I'm watching StarGate SG-1. Did NEC sponser the show or something? It seems like EVERY monitor in the SGC is a NEC MultiSync

No, Kyro I is much stronger than TNT2U overall. Kyro is difficult to characterize performance wise because of its tile rendering. In lower resolutions and 16-bit color, it's no better than a TNT2U. At higher resolutions (1024x768 was higher back in the day) and 32-bit color, it's more like a GeForce DDR.

Kyro II was actually a little disappointing. Other than a clock speed bump (125 -> 175), it didn't bring much else. If they went with a T&L engine like they did in the unreleased Kyro III, it probably would've fared much better.

Woa... Kyro PCI? Now I'm wondering if the Prophet 4000 I have is PCI or AGP. I know my Prophet II 4500 Kyro II is AGP, but I don't remember looking that closely at the other when I got it.
Over the past year or so I've really begun to notice how much more valuable and rare PCI cards seem to be.
EDIT: After frantically tearing through my "collection" tote, I see that my card is a 3D Prophet 4000XT AGP. I am also reminded of how I need to sit down and do some DOS benchmarks and compatibility tests with a bunch of the oddball cards in my collection. I have some strange ones like Permedia, i740 (two different ones), Savage 4000, Kyro I\II, and a slew of others. Would be interesting to know how some of these work for DOS.
