I feel like hitting the time period is more important than 'was it common?' The 40" Sony CRT RPTV MSRP $9999 in 198X for NES would be cool, but a fake wood-paneled console TV would be "more accurate" for the household childhood experience with the console itself.

I thought of another good monitor, an Impression 3 or Impression 5 for 14 or 15". Infiniti brand as well. Can barely find google pics since I can't remember exact model numbers.

Mate you'd be crazy to pass up that monitor for $15, Most CRTS have aged badly I bought brand new 17" crt monitors about 7 years ago and they look amazing because im so used to LCD/LED, the blacks are pure and the picture is crisp.

Still waiting for OLED monitors, my Dell U2412M is disgusting cant believe the crap picture we have to put up with.

So where do I find one of these... 😁

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

That article's misleading. The pic's from 2001 and he's coding Doom 3.

He looks pretty young still there, date could be off though because earliest mention of the monitor I found was 1996 https://www.thefreelibrary.com/Superior+3D+Ha … ion.-a018898602

I have a 15" IBM CRT from 1995 that needs minor repairs (turns pink, but still displays the picture)

I had a different brand, same age that did that, and it was a resistor burned out on the neck board in one of the R G B lines, might not be same location, but trace those through, you might find something similar.

I'm gonna take a look and see what the issue is today.
