This is for V1.4:

It seems it does support Intel DX4-100 but not AMD ones. And you don't need an overdrive CPU. Any Intel DX4-100 should work.

I have a M912 board (rev 1.7) witch plain refuses to post with AMD chips. I even updated BIOS - still no post. Works fine with any intel chip tough... Didn't think such a thing was possible...

does the m912 use fake cache? how do I identify it?

if it's soldered on it's fake. If it has sockets, it's most likely real, especially if the chips are branded UMC or Eltrontech. In any case, if the cache chips are socketed, you can replace them with real cache chips.
