Okay, I didn't quite follow the drama. All I knew kithylin badmouthed an ebay seller on the ebay thread, and the seller fought back. But it happened on page 480 while the thread got locked in page 544. What exactly happened in the 64 pages in-between?
There was also the spin-off thread where Jade Falcon took over sixty posts excoriating a "bad seller" and someone joining VOGONS *only* to post in that thread about their similar experience, and the lengths they would go to to exact revenge, including doxxing, before a moderator finally took action. dcsliquidations on ebay are true dickbags
All related to eBay auctions.
All I can say is: this is one of the problems with moderators policing VOGONS and cleaning up everything, splitting off posts, deleting others, just so the rest of you can have a pleasant experience: You don't see the ugly side of things, unless you are *constantly* active and reading VOGONS.
Based on my years of experience here, never has there been a thread that has required more constant policing and cleanup. Sorry, vetz.
It had reached a point where it required constant policing for shilling, and responding to people using the "Report Post" feature to report on each other, endless drama about bad sellers and bad buyers flying around, forum moderators who cared extremely little for such things having to constantly visit eBay to ensure people weren't breaking the intent and spirit of the thread, complaints about pricing, pissing contests, forum members reporting other forum members for various shenanigans, all sorts of drama.
The forum moderators had been privately discussing what to do for months, and had created an ongoing thread stacking up every time a complaint was made about someone or something going on in that thread.. I guess it reached a tipping point, but some of the worst drama lately had been overly egregious. And of course, open selling had never been allowed and that thread had always come right up to the line and crossed it many, many times, and so finally Qbix made an executive decision.
On the other hand, the "Bought New (retro) Hardware Today" thread is at over a thousand pages and is much more well behaved.
