I'm having problems with a game called the soviet union strikes back.It is a pretty new freeware game made in 2001.I can't start itin XP, so I tried it in Dosbox, and I got this message:
LOAD ERROR: no DPMI get csdmi*b.zip

Can someone help me please! 😖

DPMI server is missing. Do what is said there. Download CWSDPMI (free on Internet) and unzip it into the directory with the game...

You need a DPMI provider. This was programmed into older versions of DOSBox, IIRC and is also present again in current CVS version. If you don't want to use either of those, you will need the file CWSDPMI.EXE (which is a DPMI provider). Search Goooooogle for it.

Thanks a lot, but once I did that and started the game, there is only a black screen and the game can't be started.Do you know what could be the problem?

I do believe that is a RON game, made with AGS. If so, you can ask around in the www.bigbluecup.com/yabb/ forums. Usually such reports are answered with "Sorry, no can do unless the game's maker himself compiles another version"... but if you got it to half-work (as in, got past the error message and ran into another problem) it MIGHT be worth a try.
