I've got a set of Tandy computer/printer protective covers that are extremely yellowed.

I've had good luck with cleaning some plastics with that 40vol hair lightening stuff, do you think it'd be safe to use on this cover? I'm not sure what sort of plastic it is.

Something like that I would probably throw in the washing machine. Low temperate, short wash, no spin.

Is this too much voodoo?

Yep Retrobrite is nasty stuff, it would eat that material / stitching for breakfast.

I’d try soaking it in a pre-wash whitener (Napysan etc) and then go with the washing machine option suggested by Errius.
