hey,

I got this board which seems to work fine. But I have some HD problems when I install Wing Commander 3 which shows in 2 ways.

1) when I select copy additional files from CD to drive the copy stops randomly at some point and nothing happens anymore
2) when I start the game without copying any files it "freeze" also as soon it loads the cockpit

EDIT: same problem also with Wing Commander 4. Setup stops at the beginning when it try to copy bigger files from CD to HD.

Other problems I didn't find so far - thankfully.

As HD I have tried :

1) 8GB DOM straight plugged to the IDE header
2) a 40GB as well 80GB IDE drive from both were only 8GB recognized
3) 2GB CF card which worked fine to the point to install MS DOS bit it did after installation not want to boot from

Attached some pics from specs output.

What can the problem be? What is the latest bios for REV C:1? Are there not more than 8GB per drive possible (not that its needed, just asking)? I saw here there is a newer bios (http://bios.rom.by/LS/) but only for Rev F.

I had the same hardware on an aopen ap4 without this problems.

It seems to work when I switch the HD from LBA to LARGE mode.

It could just not like any of your hard drives, I know that you tried lots. But even a 40GB is way to big for back in the day. You could just add a 3rd party IDE controller in a PCI slot if it has one that might cure the symptoms if there are no bios updates that fix it.
