Got another issue with my Libretto 110CT which is that vertical “lines” have started to appear on the screen. It looks like half of every pixel is slightly darker than it should be making everything look vertically “striped” rather than a uniform colour as it did before. More pronounced on grey and invisible on white.
I’ve tried reseating and cleaning the display connector, removing the optional RAM module and connecting to an external screen to verify it doesn’t do it there (it doesn’t). There was a very slight trace of corrosion on the screen connector on the board but it’s all cleaned off.
It comes and goes “suddenly” and disappeared once while the laptop was turned on. It is an issue in both Windows and the BIOS so I think it’s probably a hardware fault with either the display or connector.
Any suggestions as to what I should try next? I haven’t tried disassembling the screen to check the connectors behind there but I’m not sure that would help.
