Hiya!

Several years ago I was given this Elite FX-3000 motherboard with a missing BIOS rom and oscillator (oscillator was transplanted to some amiga accelerator or something along these lines IIRC). I was told the mobo was fine, it just became a donor for the xtal/eprom 🤣

So I thought it was high time to see if it actually works. I have a 486SX25 cpu I'd like to try with it but I am not sure what xtal I need... I *think* I need a 50mhz for a sx25 cpu (and a 66mhz for a dx2-66) right?

Also anyone has an image of the "486DX ISA BIOS" for this mobo?

Lastly, about that LOCAL1 slot there is a source on the net calling it "32bit MCA Local Bus slots" and there is a report here that it's not actually a VLB slot and it killed a vlb vga. Any idea what this slot actually is?

Thanks in advance for any info/help!

edit:
hmm this ebay auction that has a mobo like mine with the 486 socked, "vlb" populated and same "486DX ISA BIOS" sticker uses a 25mhz crystal: https://www.ebay.com/itm/172461365155
maybe when the 486 cpu is installed you need the same xtal mhz as the fsb

There is already a thread about this mainboard

Re: FX-3000 motherboard thread

I have seen that but the BIOS you posted has this string: 40-0100-001131-00101111-111192-UMC480
Compare it to Phil's pics here and you'll see it's quite different: https://www.philscomputerlab.com/fx-3000.html
