Good motherboards are like buses: nothing for ages, then several appear at once. Looks like I'm getting my hands on a second MS-6168 (BX with onboard Voodoo3). Maybe the fan on this one isn't as completely ruined as on my current one. Plus I want to run a Tualatin P3 1400-S (arrived today: yay!) on it which could be risky (VRMs not exactly designed for such current at low voltage). Having a backup is a nice idea. Also some other ATX Slot 1 board which looks suspiciously like a Tyan Tsunami. Still, shouldn't count my chickens till they've hatched - let's wait until this stuff gets here and then see if it actually works...

Holey mackerel... I found a cheapish ASUS P3B-F v1.04 motherboard with 1GB RAM, an AGP Rage IIc video card.. and wait for it... a Slot-1 Pentium III 1000/256/100 CPU.
MWAHAHAHA 😈 for the CPU. The motherboard and video card were not really even on my radar as I have plenty of Slot 1 440BX motherboards already and the video card is meh.
Seller's pic.
Exactly how rare is the PIII-1000 100fsb Slot-1 ?
I couldn't find any on eBay or on the sold or finished sales/auction history.
I let one go on shopgoodwill a month or so ago. It went up to $60 or so plus shipping before I backed off. It was sealed in box. 😵
About to place an order for this card; can anyone spot any issues with it visually? Some capacitors seem to be unpopulated but I can't be sure they fell off later.. An old listing on eBayhas even fewer capacitors.

The steel back plate is rusty 🤣
PS: Capacitors does not seem to be fallen of, probably not populated from the beginning.

Well, that one is specifically listed as not working so I'm not sure if it's a good specimen to compare with 🤣
Regardless, I bit the bullet and bought it. Now I can do my Hippo VL+ DCA, EDRAM, VLB, DX2-66 build.

I noticed that too, but it will give you some more data/information. Enjoy the build! I love VLB DX2/66 systems 😀

Thats cool! My EGA Monitors has an Input for PGC, its an analog one.
I have asked myself what PGC is and if it even existed - never seen it.
Also like to have such card!
Facepalm! I accidentally lowballed an auction.
I should probably stay off Ebay when I'm working all-nighters on a cocktail of coffee & ibuprofen.
So how much did I pay for this gargantuan beauty, you ask? Well, the amount rhymes with Ben Sucks. (Sorry, unspecified Ben!)

Not bad of a motherboard. Looks like a workstation or server motherboard, judging by the dual CPU setup there and the PCI-X slot (mainly used by servers, workstations, and PowerMacs at that time).

Iirc it's a RAIDport (version III, imho). Not a PCI-X.

Yep, it's apparently a Gateway 4000494 from an ALR 7200 server. Not a lot of info out there on this board, if you google either of those terms you'll likely get the auction advert I just bought it from (which I won't link to because the seller has 7 more available, ahem) and not much else.
Looks like a pretty nice board, BX chipset (wish it were GX), onboard SCSI, and even an ISA slot although it's hard to see in the pic. No AGP but I can live with that (has a Cirrus Logic 54M30 on the AGP bus - which is interesting because 99% of these things have a Rage.)
It also probably fits in one of my spare cases, and is of no immediate use to me beyond Dicking Around With. Ah well, guess that's a good enough reason. 😜

That explains it, I was wondering if it was a 5V PCI-X which is not something I've ever seen. (Are all PCI-X 3.3V?)
Can I just use it as a 32-bit PCI slot?

Great... Yeah. There is something about VLB system's. Something different that are really cool.
If you get tired of playing with DX2-66, then upgrade to DX2-80.
Not many people are doing systems like that, yet I think that 2xVLB cards and 40mhz FSB are great.
