In the past year I've been interested in collecting console hardware like SNES, Famicom, N64, Genesis PS1, PS2, and my Pentium rig (and Vogons) did not get the attention it deserves.
I grabbed a few SFC (1Chip, 2Chip, Jr.), a couple AV Famicoms, Jap N64, two PSOne's, two Ps2 7704, Genesis Model1 VA6 + Model2 VA4;
Let me tell you, the prices are INSANE for new collectors, especially the cartridges.
I did NOT buy a single cart, the price for the consoles only is high enough as is.
I grabbed Everdrives from Krikzz for all the cartridge stuff, and modchips for PS1/PS2 which I soldered (they work).
Know why? The prices for the damn cartridges are through the effing roof!
Ethical or not, I do not suggest any new collector to even start collecting cartridges, just do yourself a favor and buy the Everdrives.
I've tried to eBay "Sound Blaster Pro CT1600".... nothing... really?
A year ago there were plenty of SBPro2 on ebay for less than 40$.
Clicked the "Completed Listings".... 100$ on average for the CT1600, a rip off to say the least.
What the heck is wrong with the prices in this day and age for retro gaming? Ten years back most of it was garbage.
Yes I know, supply and demand, but 200$ for a NES cart?..... nope, not me, I'm all Everdrive.
How do you play/collect your games?
