VOGONS

Hi, I got this problem with two old games, Fragile Allegiance and Syndicate (haven't tested other old games yet). To make it simple, I start playing these two games, using DOSBox, and some minutes later (random timing, it seems, since I've played FragAlleg for 15 minutes and 1.5 minutes 😖 ) the game exits on its own and the following message appears "Error: video file format wrong." at the Command Prompt of DOSBox. The specs from my computer are the following:
. Motherboard -> Intel Express Board D865PERL
. Processor -> Intel Pentium 4 2.7E
. Soundcard -> SoundMAX 4 XL (part of the motherboard)
. 1 GB of 512 MB RAM DDR 128
. Graphic Card -> NVIDIA GeForce XFX 5200 128 MB
. OS -> Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP2
I've looked around the forum for any threads concerning this issue or something similar but didn't found any (in the first 5 pages, that is 😀 ). Checked the FAQ and Readme first, but saw nothing related to this. And it's been so long since I've delved into DOS (well, since 1998 or 1999, I think), I can barely remember all the commands. 😅 So I don't really know if this is repairable by commands or if it will be something more complicated. Any help is deeply appreciated! 😁

Please, use separate threads for each game.

Also, doing a forum SEARCH might prove useful.

😅
I went searching for "video file format wrong" instead of "Fragile Allegiance" 😅 . Seems there are more who get the same problem, but no solution was posted. Oh well, if DOSBox isn't yet capable, then it's back to waiting... 😵
Concerning Syndicate, I saw several solutions to mainly sound problems, from changing the DOS4GW to using M$ Virtual PC 2004. I'll check them out later.

What version of DOSBox are you running? Before giving up, you should try a recent CVS build - see the development forum for details.
